Becky Falls offers a full day of fun for the whole family.
Becky Falls offers a full day of fun for the whole family, with three scenic walking trails to choose from and fascinating hourly Keeper talks. Don’t forget to take a break and enjoy lunch in our cosy café.
We’ve put together a sample itinerary to help you plan your visit—but there’s so much to see and do, we couldn’t fit everything in! Be sure to check the What’s On board when you arrive, and you’ll also receive a handy map with details of the walking trails and estimated times for each.
Prefer to take it easy? You’re welcome to simply relax by the streams and soak up the natural beauty. The day is yours to enjoy, your way!
10:00am: Arrive at Becky Falls, where our friendly car park attendant will greet you with your entry stickers and a handy map. Take a few moments to familiarise yourself with the map before heading down the path into the park.
10:15am: Check the What’s On board at the entrance for today’s Keeper talks and events. Then head over to the animal enclosures to meet some of our friendly residents.
11:00am: Set off on the Blue Trail and explore the beautiful ancient woodland. You may catch the 11am Meet the KeeperTalk* before you go. Don’t forget to take part in the nature trail challenge—designed for children, but the fun and educational signs are interesting for adults too!
11:45am: Head to the Gift Shop to collect your well-deserved prize for completing the nature trail challenge. While you're there, you can also purchase a Meerkat Feed Token to use at the 1pm Meet the Keeper Talk*.
12:00pm: Visit the Animal Discovery Zone and meet the Keepers*. You might encounter one of our fascinating invertebrates or even see a snake being fed.
12:15pm: After the talk, take time to explore the other animals in the Animal Discovery Zone. On your way to the Meerkat Enclosure, stop by the Wildlife Garden to learn about simple, effective ways we support local wildlife—many of which you can try at home.
1:00pm: Join the Meet the Keeper Talk* at the Meerkat Enclosure. Exchange your token for mealworms and feed them to our cheeky meerkats while learning more about their behaviours and care.
1:15pm: Time for a break! Head to the Woodland Café and treat yourself to a relaxing lunch surrounded by nature.
2:15pm: Ready for more exploring? Take on the Red Trail for stunning views of the Main Falls. Feeling adventurous? Continue onto the Purple Trail for a tranquil walk through the Lower Falls area.
3:00pm: If you're on the Purple Trail, you might be lucky enough to spot ponies in the paddock. If you stayed on the Red Trail, you’ll arrive back in time for the 3pm Meet the Keeper Talk*.
3:45pm: Enjoy a final break at the Café—perhaps with a well-earned Devon Cream Tea. You’ll also have time to browse the Gift Shop and pick up some souvenirs of your visit.
4:00pm: Catch another Meet the Keeper Talk*—you might see the animals enjoying their evening feed.
4:30pm: What a day! After a quick loo break, make your way back to the car park.
5:00pm: The park closes. We hope you’ve had a fantastic day at Becky Falls!
*Please note: This is a sample itinerary to help you plan your visit. Meet the Keeper Talks change daily, so please check the What’s On board on arrival for up-to-date times and locations.
In a landscape carved out in the last Ice Age over 12,000 years ago, the Becky Falls waterfall sits at the heart of the park in a stunning boulder strewn valley. The waterfall itself is over 70ft high and over 35ft wide in parts where the Becka Brook runs between the huge granite boulders and onward down the Bovey Valley. In addition to the spectacular main falls there are many smaller falls cascading along the length of the brook for you to enjoy. Our waterfall is a haven for wildlife and it is entirely natural and is especially stunning during and after recent rain fall.
We endeavour to provide a safe environment for visitors but please remember that the Becky Falls Estate houses an ancient woodland with fast flowing rivers and some steep drops. ALWAYS stay on the footpaths and take great care. DO NOT attempt any walk unless you know that you are physically capable of completing it.
